The committees at Usva are the creative and organizational heart of the association. They organize events, take photos, design eye-catching posters, perform on stage, go to other performances throughout the city, and many more. The committees meet weekly to share updates, reflect on what they have been working on and plan together for the weeks ahead. Beyond the practical side, these meetings are also a space to connect and spend time together, exchanging ideas in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.

BAND
The Usva Band hosts the monthly Usva Jam Session, but it also plays at loads of other events. Last year they performed at O-Swap, WinterWelVaart, Groningen on Stage, etc. The band rehearses every week and consists of a singer, a guitarist, a bassist, a pianist, and a drummer.

FLICKS
Flicks organizes the Flicks Short Film Festival in March. Flicks is made especially for students and young filmmakers. Last year there were entries from more than 180 countries! The event consists of two evenings filled with short films of all kinds of genres. As the Flicks committee, you watch all the submissions and make a selection to show at the festival, decide the theme, invite jury members, create the film festival booklet, and organize side programming.

LIVE SUPPORT
Live Support is a talent development track for upcoming stage performance artists. The committee holds auditions for independent young performers, and then chooses a small group to guide throughout the year. They organize workshops and two showcases to coach the artists in developing their stage act.

O-SWAP
The O-Swap committee organizes minimum two clothing swap events throughout the year. The main focus of these events is on clothing, but you can also work with books, jewelry, and other items. The committee incorporates new ideas into these events every time.

QUIZ
The Quiz committee is responsible for organizing the Usva Pub Quizzes and Quiz Nights. The Pub Quizzes are held in the café and feature more general questions. The Usva Quiz Nights take place in the theatre and have a specific theme. The committee chooses the theme, questions, decorations, and they also host the nights.

PR
The PR committee focuses on the external promotion of Usva’s events, which mainly includes designing our posters. The committee also contributes to social media posts, takes pictures during events, and puts up posters throughout the city.

USVA AWARDS
The Usva Awards committee organizes an award show for cultural student performances. Throughout the year, the committee visits many dance, theatre, and musical performances. These shows are awarded prizes such as “Best Performer” or “Best Night Out”, as decided by the committee. The award show will be held in September of the following year.
