About Usva

Dana van Nimwegen

I received my first musical education from the local music school at the age of 10. My debut at De Doelen, Rotterdam one year later then marked the beginning of my career as a classical pianist.  During secondary school I enrolled at the Utrechts Conservatorium for two preparatory years under Henk Ekkel. After graduating from high school, I continued my studies in Utrecht under Paolo Giacometti and received my Bachelor in 2008. Following this, I was offered a place for a Master in Music, specialising in chamber music under the guidance of Klára Wurtz. This last degree, which I rounded off in 2011, also included research in teaching techniques for talented children. I have been giving piano lessons ever since I started my studies at the Utrechts Conservatorium and take pleasure in teaching students of all ages and at all levels. Apart from regular piano lessons, I also focus on cultivating ensemble playing and organise group lessons as well as recital evenings. During and following my studies I participated in many chamber music projects in the Netherlands and abroad. At present, I regularly accompany various instrumentalists and singers; since 2012 I have been working closely with the Zeister Mannenkoor, a male voice choir. I also currently give piano lessons in Groningen and Utrecht. As part of the Project Inleidend Piano Onderwijs (PIPO), I work in a team of teachers to give piano lessons to very young, talented children in accordance with teaching methods developed by the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. As one of the senior teachers, I am closely involved in innovating musical talent development.
