Usva Movie Night - Thelma & Louise

Usva is screening the feminist classic Thelma & Louise!

Thelma & Louise is a 1991 American crime drama film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Callie Khouri. The film stars Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis as Louise and Thelma, two friends who embark on a road trip that ends up in unforeseen circumstances.

The film is a feminist take on the typically male dominated road-movie. It deals with the prevalence of sexual violence, and the question of how to handle patriarchal oppression. The film can be seen as an early depiction of both female rage as well as great female friendship.

After the film screening, there will be a short aftertalk by Dr. Cristina Formenti, who is a film scholar. She’ll dive into the feminist issues connected to the film and discuss the question: can this actually be considered a feminist film at all? Afterwards, there will be room for questions!

And finally: there will also be a costume prize! Join Thelma & Louise on their iconic road trip wearing your best outlaw fit. Head to toe dressed in denim and leather to show off your unique style will get you the prize (the more denim we see, the happier we are.)

When? Thursday 19 June at 20.30.
Where? In the Usva Theatre, Munnekeholm 10.
