Animation is amazing. It’s a form of art that can be applied in many different fields; from storytelling in animated movies to commercial advertising, and even videogames. This course will teach you everything you need to know about the software Adobe After Effects. But more than the software, we will also explore the universal theory about what makes animation work in the first place, including the 12 animation principles, storyboarding, character rigging and some neat special effects. We briefly touch on other software such as Blender 3D and frame-by-frame software, but our main focus for compositing animation will be in Adobe After Effects. Whether you are a total beginner or already have some experience in this field, this course will give you the skills and knowledge to transform your creative visions into reality.

Each lesson will involve one part of theory, both in software and animation-principles. The second part will consist of practical exercises with personal guidance. We will try to get most of the basics of the software down in the first 5 weeks. After that, we will work toward a final animation-short that we’ll present for the group in the last session.

Note: in this course we use computers on which only UG-students are able to log in. Others should take their own laptop and have a private subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud. The courses are offered in English.
