This is an intermediate DJ course for people who already know some basic techniques of DJíng but want to learn more in depth theory and techniques to build a solid musical foundation.
In this course we're going to have a look at the history of DJ'ing and how that shaped and changed the musical landscape. In six weeks time Coco Coquelicot will guide you through many different musical genres and she will demonstrate different dj techniques. As we go through the theory, we also get the time to practice with this new style and information and learn from one another. The homework will exist out of listening to old but exciting music to make sure you have a solid music foundation after this course.
Some of the questions you can expect we will answer: What does a DJ actually do? What is the importance of dj's for the development of music in general? How did Disco become Techno? How did beatmatching come about? Why do we not see a lot of scratching in a typical Berlin club? Why is Jamaica so important for techno?
