Remember that open call for up-and-coming bands that we put out a couple of weeks ago? It’s time to bring a curation of three bands together for Usva’s Band Night! The bands are ready and their instruments tuned (we hope). All that’s left is for you to join us!
Meet the Bands!
We thought you’d be curious to know who’s taking the stage, so we asked each band to introduce themselves by telling us a little bit about their music. Here’s what they had to say:
1) Happenstance: @happenstance.music
“Happenstance is an alternative/indie rock band from the Dutch provinces of Drenthe and Groningen. The band moves between the melancholy and layered sound of Radiohead and the energy of Nothing But Thieves and Muse, while deliberately exploring the boundaries of the genre. Influences from bossa nova and swing, unconventional time signatures and distinctive melodies blend with powerful, dynamic alt-rock. Their lyrics explore existentialism, hedonism and love, with both sincerity and a playful edge. The band consists of Marin on vocals and acoustic guitar, Oscar on drums, Ernests on bass and Ties on electric guitar.”
2) Toxic Mocktail: @toxicmocktail.band
“Formed in 2025 after four guys from different countries met through Reddit, Toxic Mocktail is a young, high-energy alternative rock band from Groningen, turning every gig into a party! Expect heavy riffs, catchy melodies, instrument swaps, and crowd interaction!”
3) Jay Waldo: @jay.waldo
“Jay Waldo is a rapper and producer from Groningen who explores the tension between the world inside his head and the world around him. Through introspective hip-hop influenced by jazz and soul, he examines life’s contradictions through self-reflection, observation, and humor, in his quest for peace. Together with his five-piece live band, he brings these inner conflicts to life in a dynamic mix of organic instrumentation and hip-hop, in which introspective moments alternate with raw energy.”
