Requirement: 2 to 3 years of dance experience (modern dance, jazz dance, classical ballet).
This modern dance class invites you to explore the relationship between freedom and control in movement. Through a combination of floor work, spinal sequencing, and breath-focused exercises, we’ll work with gravity, using the natural weight of our bodies to find moments of release, recovery, and power as we move across the floor. The class will focus on alignment, flow, and working with the momentum of falling and rising, while exploring the unique connection between movement and meaning.
In addition to dance technique, we will also work with the performative aspects of movement, exploring different emotional and physical states. This part of the class encourages you to tap into the expressive potential of your body, experimenting with intention and presence in performance. We will work on how to embody a range of physicalities and how these can influence the way you move and connect with an audience.
This course is offered in English. This course starts on Monday 14 September 2026 at 20.45 and will be 15 weeks in a row on the same day and time. Please note that there are no classes during the Christmas Break on Monday the 21st of December and the 28th of December. The course will take place in the Big Dance Studio in Usva.
