Usva has been - since 1969 - cultural centre and stage of the University of Groningen. Usva offers various courses and events for everyone, but students are our core target group. Our goal is to introduce students to art and culture in an accesible way, both during and alongside their studies, and to help them develop their skills in this field.
The building of Usva is located in the heart of Groningen's city centre at Munnekeholm 10. Usva houses a theatre and a cafe, where most events are organized. Additionally, there are various spaces, such as an atelier, dance studios, and other rooms where courses are taught in a wide range of art disciplines.
Usva consists of a core group of professionals and an ever-changing group of student programmers. Together, they curate the program in the theatre: from collaborations with SPOT Groningen to performances by the Groninger Studenten Toneel.
Usva is also a platform where students can debate and discuss the everchanging world openly, freely, and from various perspectives. Usva is a place where students can meet each other, where they are in control, and where their personal growth - under the guidance of professionals - is stimulated. A place where students can discover their voice.
