The University of Groningen and the UMCG have expressed a shared ambition to create a lively city campus on the North side of the UMCG complex. The Student Culture Centre Usva will be a part of this development.
The target for opening the doors of the new location is the 2019/20 study year-the year in which Usva will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. A start will be made on a concept design for the new building in early 2017.
At a minimum, the facility will have a multifunctional theatre (ca. 200 people), various spaces for courses and a modern café. Where possible, spaces will be arranged so that they can be used in the daytime for university classes.
For the future, Student Culture Centre Usva will continue to develop its young, challenging and international program of activities, and make a strong commitment to fortify its current cooperative initiatives with cultural partners in the city.
