A 10-week course in music production, where you’ll learn all the basic techniques and tools to produce a song. Whether you’re making electronic music, singer-songwriter songs, hiphop beats, techno, rock and pop or even classical music. This course will go through the process of recording instruments and vocals, beat making, composition and arranging. All combined with a bit of music theory and the science behind sound. During this course every student will make a song covering all the info every week to go to the next step. You can use whatever software you prefer to make your song, but we recommend the music software Ableton.

This course is offered in English. This course starts on Thursday 2 April 2026 at 19.00 and will be 10 weeks in a row on the same day and time. The course will take place in the Media Studio in USVA. Lessons 1 and 2: Tools of the modern composer, an overview of the Digital Audio Workstation.
Lesson 3 and 4: Recording and Sampling.
Lesson 5 and 6: Components of a composition: rhythm, melody and harmony.
Lesson 7 and 8: The musical frame: form and time.
Lesson 9 and 10: On track: mixing and exporting your music.
