Queer Fear: A Halloween Film Screening
With Halloween just around the corner, we’re hosting a spooky movie night with a queer theme! Together with Ganymedes, we’re diving into the world of horror with a screening of the queer cult classic Jennifer’s Body. There will be a short pre-screening talk on the relationship between horror and queer culture.
Jennifer’s Body
Released in 2009, Jennifer’s Body follows Jennifer, a popular high school cheerleader who becomes possessed by a demon after a rock band’s attempt to sacrifice her goes horribly wrong. Suddenly, boys in her small town are disappearing, and her best friend Needy begins to uncover the horrifying truth behind Jennifer’s transformation.
What makes Jennifer’s Body a queer cult classic is the relationship between Jennifer and Needy, which is intense, complicated, and charged with jealousy and desire.
